Saravanan Meenatchi is a 2011-2018 IndianTamil-languagetelevision series broadcast on STAR Vijay. The first season was broadcast from 07 November 2011.^[1] The second season of the show which started as a sequel and next generation story of the first season, was broadcast from 21 October 2013. The third season featured a different story and cast broadcast from 18 July 2016. Saravanan Meenatchi ended up with season 3 being the last version of the franchise on 17 August 2018.^[2][3]It is the second longest ran Tamil serial.

The story revolves around Saravanan and Meenatchi who are poles apart in terms of personality, background, attitudes towards life, etc. Saravanan is a Chennai-based radio jockey from an affluent family.^[4] Meenatchi is a small-town girl from Thirunelveli, working as a teacher in a small school. The story begins as the two families meet for a marriage proposal between the two, but things go wrong and the wedding does not happen. However, Saravanan and Meenatchi find themselves falling in love with each other.

Casting[edit]

The lead pair in season 1 it was Mirchi Senthil and Sreeja Chandran.^[5] The name of the serial is derived from the names of the characters of the serial 'Madurai' starring the same lead pair.^[6] The serial is directed by Azhagar, and the story, screenplay and dialogues are by Francis Kathiravan. The series was a major hit in Indian and Sri Lanka and received immense popularity across Asia.

Reception[edit]

Saravanan Meenatchi attracted high viewership ratings in India during its broadcast in 2011-2013. The cast members became household names and shot to stardom overnight, several of them became the faces of various endorsements and advertisements. After the series ended, Mirchi Senthil and Sreeja Chandran got married on 2 July 2014 in Tirupati. It was a family affair and no Celebes's were present.^[7]

• The show was remade in Telugu language as 'Raja Rani', which aired on Maa TV from 6 July 2016 to 3 September 2016 for 73 Episodes and Kannada language as 'Just Maath Maathalli', which aired on Suvarna TV from 15 August 2016 to 21 January 2017 for 138 Episodes.^[12]
• A Bengali language remake was broadcast on Star Jalsha from March 20 2017 to 3 December 2017 on Monday to Sunday at 5:00PM (IST) as Premer Kahini and ended with 182 Episodes.

Eeramana Rojave (transl. The wet rose) is a 2018 Tamil-language family melodrama starring Pavithra, Dhiraviam Rajakumaran, Kumaran Thangarajan directed by Francis Kathiravan. It started airing on Vijay TV on Monday through Friday at 14:30 (IST) time slot from 9th July 2018.^[1]. Later the show was rescheduled to air Monday through Saturday. Synopsis[edit]

Malarvizhi (Pavithra) falls in love with Maran (Kumaran Thangarajan) and they decide to get married. On the day of their wedding, Maran dies in an accident and his younger brother Vetri (Dhiraviam Rajakumaran) is forced to marry Malarvizhi.The story then revolves around Vetri and Malar's marriage life.^[4] After the marriage malar refuses to live with vetri and scolds him for everything. Vetri's love intrest anjali starts troubling Vetri for cheating him. Meanwhile vetri joins a mechanic shop. Vallavan a worker there starts a hatred towards vetri. Once Malar wants to write a exam in chennai. Vetri convinces his mother and take her to the exam venue where someone steals her bag in which she has kept the hallticket. Vetri buys a new one saying that hallticket was lost in Gaja puyal. A girl sitting near malar copies and puts the blame on malar. Vetri comes and rescues her on time.

As their bag was stolen no money was left for vetri and malar. Malar draws portrait and vetri writes poet and sells it. They got money and ate some food. Vetri asks malar to draw him. But she refuses to draw his eyes because she cannot see his eyes. They live in a hotel there. They keep a party for couples. They ask some silly questions about their wife for which vetri dont know the answer. Everybody makes fun of them and so malar goes out in rage. Vetri explains the full story of their life to everyone in which everybody feel sorry for them. Malar hearing these things came to know that Maarran has died because he had went in night to buy a ring for malar. Vetri handover the ring to malar. On the next day when both of them were standing on the beach her ring goes into the sea. Vetri jumps into the water in search of it. Vetri was taken to the hospital in which he was saved. Malar feeks happy for him.

Vetri's friend , thangarasu and his grandfather make him believe that he loves Malar. Vetri accept that after some consequences. Akila(gayatri) , Malar younger sister was being threatened by azhagar. But she dont know who it is. When akila was bathing he took the video. After some incident his father arranges azhagar as his fiancee. Vetri with more difficulty finds that it is none other than azhagar. On the day of marriage Vetri tells the truth to everyone and stops the marriage. Vetri's younger brother pugazh is married to her.

After these events Malar started to fall for him. On a parallel scale Anjali begins to talk with Vetri in a friendly manner and helps him which Vallavan captures photo. Malar finishes the rest of her srawing of Vetri in which she drew the remaining eyes. Both of them planned to confess their love on his birthday while azhagar and his friends plans to make the birthday as deathday.

Casting[edit]

The series revolves around two families. Pavithra who was formerly in Saravanan Meenatchi (season 3)^[5] will be portraying female lead as a village girl while, Dhiraviam Rajakumaran plays the male lead and Kumaran Thangarajan plays the love interest of the female lead, Nivisha will be portraying love interest of the male lead. Later Thangarasu was replaced by V. Muthukumarasamy. Kalyana Veedu and Bommalattam serials fame. Official teaser has been released by Star Vijay in Youtube on 01 July 2018. ^[6] Other supporting cast include Shyam, Nisha, Gayatri Bhuvanesh and Venkat.

Title[edit]

This title was taken from a 1991 feature film Eeramana Rojave starring Shiva and Mohini in the lead roles. The English meaning of this title is The wet rose.

The original game was released in 1996 for the console PlayStation 2 and was a great success which led to the output of other parts of the game including a remake of the original on the GameCube and Wii as well as numerous spin-offs sequels prequels and ports to other platforms (in including personal computers handheld consoles and mobile phones).
